Australia Gold Coast Scenic Flight Tour 3The day begins with a courtesy pickup from your Gold Coast hotel at approximately 6.00am. We take to the air for a 90 minute scenic coastal flight to Lady Elliot Island, a true coral cay on the southern Great Barrier Reef.

At Lady Elliot Island you can step right off the beach and snorkel or swim in the world's richest marine eco-system.

Come face to face with turtles, colourful coral and schools of reef fish. The coral gardens surrounding the island are also a breeding and feeding area for the giant "Kites of The Reef" (Manta Rays). Many of our past guests have been fortunate to swim with these amazing creatures.

Hosted by our trained guides, you will spend the day snorkeling and fish feeding, exploring the reef on a glass bottom boat ride, reef and island walks, and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.

Our day trip returns from Lady Ellliot at 2.15pm, arriving back at your hotel at approximately 5.30pm.

06:00 Transfer from Gold Coast hotel to Airport.
07:00 Depart Gold Coast by chartered plane. On route to Lady Elliott Island our flight offers you an excellent opportunity to take in the sights of Moreton Island, Noosa Heads and Fraser Island.
08:30 Arrive Lady Elliott Island where you are guaranteed a minimum of 4 hrs to explore the Great Barrier Reef. All snorkelling equipment supplied.
12:30 Buffet lunch, including prawns and all beverages.
14:30 Depart Lady Elliott Island for Gold Coast
16:00 Arrive at The Gold Coast, return transfer to hotel.

About Lady Elliott Island

Australia Gold Coast Scenic Flight Tour 5The southernmost section of the Great Barrier Reef, this tiny coral cay, a 450 km light-plane flight from the Gold Coast, is a cheerful little eco-resort, home to many tens of thousands of birds, particularly the white-capped noddy, but also at night amazing acapellas can be heard from the wailing, moaning, groaning wedge-tail shearwaters.

Turtles lay eggs which hatch at night on Lady Elliot's beaches, from Nov-March, though they don't exactly swarm and can be difficult to find.

Diving and snorkelling here at the end of the GB reef is good if conditions are calm, otherwise visibility goes down the pan. And since the island is very small and very exposed conditions are rarely calm.

There is a neat but newish little wreck, many good coral bommies and plenty of small sharks, manta and sting rays, turtles, maori wrasse etc.
