Florence Falls

Orange Arrow Florence Falls is further down the same waterway that forms Buley Rockhole, only instead of a series of small falls, the creek splits into 2 and goes over a large fall (10-15m) into a large pool below which is ideal for swimming.

Tolmer Falls

Orange Arrow Tolmer Falls is one of three major waterfalls along the western face of the tabletop range. More large waterfalls are found along the western face of the Tabletop Range because the plateau slopes slightly to the west. You can spend 2 to 3 hours here.

Wangi Falls

Orange Arrow Wangi Falls is the largest and most popular attraction in the park, with a large grassed picnic area and toilets. Access to the plunge pool is easy with steps provided.

Buley Rockhole

Orange Arrow A series of rock holes along Florence Creek as it cascades down a hillside. Florence Creek is spring-fed and has a good flow of water year-around. Swimming is allowed year round except in times of flooding.

Litchfield National Park is an Aboriginal Dreamtime region that retains its mysterious spirituality in the silence of still forest valleys and rock face escarpments. With rugged sandstone, monsoon forests, spectacular waterfalls into cool abyss plunge pools, fascinating termite mounds, time for swimming in warm tropical waters, walking and exploring this area... so remote... so totally Australian, will leave you with a lasting impression.

Itinerary

We follow the Stuart Highway via the township of Batchelor to Litchfield National Park where we will visit the main falls. First stop is Florence Falls, where you have the opportunity for a scenic and interpretive bush and monsoon vine forest walk. There is also the chance for a swim by making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below. Travel on to Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole at the base of the falls. Finally we visit Wangi Falls, with its large crystal clear pool, another relaxing spot for a swim. A great day for taking many fascinating photos, including the amazing stand of termite mounds. A picnic lunch is included today.

Climate

Darwin has an average temperature of 32°C all year, with varying humidity. The tropical summer, from December to March, is considered by many to be the region's most beautiful time of year.

The summer rains bring the natural landscape to life and deliver the picturesque storms and sunsets the Northern Territory is renowned for. The dry season, from May to October, has warm, sunny days and cool nights. At the end of the year, the build up, or pre-monsoon season, begins and humidity levels start their rise.

The following chart outlines Darwin's monthly climate averages as an indicator for the whole northern region.
