4 Day Alice Springs to Darwin - Ghan Rail Tour

Day 1 - Alice Springs to Katherine

Travelling Red Service Day Nighter Seat, depart Alice Springs at 6 pm. Travel north towards Katherine & Darwin and enjoy the scenery as you watch a “desert sunset” as it sets slowly in the western sky.

Day 2 - Arrive Katherine

Arrive in Katherine bright and early and embark on the beginnings of your Top End Highlights. Depart from The Ghan at 9.00 am to join a boat cruise at the outstanding and spectacular Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge. After your cruise, visit the Katherine Museum and then enjoy lunch at Pine Tree Motel. After lunch, have a swim at the Katherine Hot Springs, then onto Springvale Homestead for afternoon tea and a historical tour of the oldest standing homestead in the Territory. Visit other local attractions during the rest of the afternoon and arrive back at your accommodation at approximately 5.00pm.

Day 3 - Katherine to Kakadu

Depart Katherine at 7:30am for an exciting 2 days in Kakadu National Park. Enjoy the splendour of Edith Falls, a deep permanent pool fringed by pandanus palm and high cliffs. Then enter Kakadu through the southern entrance vis Pine Creek and Mary River. Arrive at Cooinda, home of Yellow Water and take pleasure in the variety of birds, wildlife and crocodiles on a sunset cruise. Overnight at the Kakadu Safari Camp.

Day 4 - Kakadu to Darwin

Depart at 6:30am for Nourlangie Rock, just magic at this time of the morning. Today will create long lasting memories of Kakadu for you, including Ubirr, Bowali Visitor Centre, Border Store, East  Alligator and so much more! Arrive in Darwin at approximately 5:30pm.
